One of my favorite ways of saving money while traveling Europe by train was the “loaf of bread” method. Especially in countries like France and Germany where you could buy a big delicious loaf of bread for a reasonable amount. I’d carry around a loaf of bread under my arm, munching on it whenever I got hungry so I didn’t have to buy lunch or snacks.
