We didn't want to deal with hours of waiting in the main area so we just went to the Bryant Par/42 Street area after a nice dinner. We arrived an hour before an got a side view of the ball-drop. A crowd developed and there is the drama with that, but it's something that's a must do at least once. Just be sure you dress warm, eat well or bring snacks, go with people you really like being around, and stay positive.

People all over the world are there. If nothing else: you'll make a few friends. It's not great by any means, but it's an experience.

This photo reminds me of some of the gilded statues we saw in Paris.
We're talking about going to northern Michigan for, hopefully, some cross country skiing next month. I've got a writers' conference to go to near Toledo Ohio in April. Other than that, most of our travel plans are a bit up in the air this year due to employment issues...

Gennaro, this year? Do tell more. Have heard horror stories, in fact, so I avoided it myself. Any tips for making it enjoyable?

As for wandering in Central Park, it *did* get the song "Strawberry Fields" stuck in my head for days . . .

Beautiful photograph. I was at the ball-drop in New Year's Eve in Times Square. Definately, an experience. Central Park is great year-round. It's nice to take a stroll through the various little areas.
