My search for frugal travel advice online has led me to a lot (and boy, are there a lot) of personal finance blogs of late. Sasha at Consumerism Commentary recently posted on cheap outdoor dates. These are tried-and-true budget activities or short days out that need not necessarily be romantic and which are quickly adapted to a good weather travel situation. His ideas:
+ a bicycle tour with wine/cheese picnic
+ canoeing (I would say boating/watercraft rental in general)
+ inland beaches
+ lying in a hammock
+ fruit picking
