I spent four nights in/near Venice and barely broke 90 euros, including flights! See how I did it after the jump.

Like London, this trip followed my typical no-budget rules: free accommodation, ride public transport (3 euros/day), do lots of cheap or free activities. Had I stuck to eating only groceries with an occasional gelato, my average would have been 5 euros/day for food and drink; however, due to my host’s schedule, I had to stay one evening in the city till midnight — so, there being little to do in Venice after dark and since no other HC members I had contacted were able to get together that night, I decided to park myself in a restaurant for nearly five hours. Even with that splurge, my total still comes in at a reasonable 10 euros/day for board. Super-cheapos can squeak by under 10 euros/day; with a couple restaurant pizzas thrown in the mix, you’ll be looking at a daily budget of around 15 euros.
